The team was honoured today to receive the official presentation of our ‘King’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation’ at our company headquarters in Bakewell.
His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant, Mrs. Elizabeth Fothergill CBE and Mr. Scott Knowles DL were in attendance, along with a host of VIPs from the area.
During the event, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant explained her role in presenting the Award on behalf of His Majesty The King, before the Grant of Appointment was read out and then presented to our Chief Operating Officer, Will Throssel. The Crystal Bowl was then presented to our Head of Innovation, Dr. Roger Doonan, before our MD, Dr. Clive Waddington, said a few words acknowledging the hard work of the team, as well as the vision and support of many others we work with.
This Award for Innovation was won last year for our unique landscape prospection service, the focus of which is non-intrusive landscape-scale geochemical survey. This cutting-edge technique has been benefiting the clients we work with around the UK, allowing us to better identify hard-to-find archaeology (or the absence of it) and reducing the need for costly excavation. Our innovative approach helps us to cut development costs, speeds up the archaeological process on site, and reduces health and safety risks (as well as the carbon footprint) because of the reduced need for plant machinery on site.
Once again, the team would like to acknowledge the vision and support of various clients and regulators that believed in these innovative approaches and supported or commissioned the pioneering work.
