A look at our excavations for the Gloucestershire M5 Junction 10 Improvements Scheme – Part 3

In the past couple of weeks we’ve seen how work has progressed on excavations near Cheltenham for Gloucestershire County Council’s M5 Junction 10 Improvements Scheme, for our client Galliford Try.

In today’s post we focus on one of the fascinating finds uncovered during this time –a burial from Site 1.

Known as Burial 2 (SK279), this 4th century AD burial contained a single individual and a small, but lovely assemblage of grave goods still in situ! These objects were intentionally selected for burial with this individual, placed there to reflect the person’s life.

But what we’ve found particularly interesting is how these objects interacted with the individual after death.
