The Royal Institute of British Architects have announced their 140 Regional Award Winners celebrating the best architecture from around the UK, and The Sill National Landscape Discovery Centre in Northumberland has been named as one of the winners. In March we held our annual staff training event at The Sill where we welcomed guest speakers including Rachel Kerr from RK Social Communications and Chris Jones from Northumberland National Park. The following day we enjoyed guided tours of Hadrian’s Wall and Vindolanda by Roman expert Dr Nick Hodgson.
The building has been praised for the way in which it blends in with its surroundings, taking inspiration from nearby geological features, but also how it focuses on sustainability and reduced energy demands. You can read more here.
